Memory Problem for Pascal
Posted by Zhang Qi 30 Mar 2004 16:13
I'm wondering about pascal memory system.
Why does the following code use so much memory?

var a : array [1..150000] of longint;
begin
   fillchar(a , sizeof(a) , 0);
end.

The status says "memory used : 957kb" , while i consider it should be 600kb. Who can tell me why?

i guess it takes a bit of memory to link and compile your program...

Do you mean, for any problem, we can't use the full memory as the problem says, but about 300kb less than it?
