4 years in programming, 2.5 years on acm.timus.ru, since April 2003 in Top-10; twice champion of the university; a coach of both programming teams ;)

Do you want me to give you some advices? So, the main thing you need to solve all the problems is a TIME. A lot of time - not less than a year. Then you need a great DESIRE. There are some problems that need weeks to be solved - it is OK, don't turn around. The last component of success is a KNOWLEDGE. Algorithms and formulas won't curve your way to the victory themselves, but you should know all of them or at least have their written descriptions - especially graphs, mathematics, geometry. Here books can help like Introductions to Algorithms. The most interesting thing that KNOWLEDGE can be received by means of TIME and DESIRE.

Of course, there are still a lot of important things such as the technologies of test-attacking, test-faking, precalc, pseudo-correct heuristics, etc., but they can not be explained easily...
